While some might know him as Proof's son, Nasaan has gone a long way in establishing his own sense of artistic individuality. Yet he has never shied away from embracing his Shady heritage, as evidenced by his brand new freestyle for "Without Me." Much like Em himself back on the 2002 lead single to The Eminem Show, Nasaan's dark sense of humor bleeds into his bars, which fire off at high volume over the synth-heavy disco banger. There's something about the unconventional instrumental that invites inventive emcees to snap and experiment with some truly dexterous flow schemes.
"No saint I roll dank with your preacher, and rob banks with Rob Banks and John Cena Lucifers henchman," he raps, catching a stride in the first verse. "Satanic mission Paul told me join, We do 666 shit." Halfway through, "Without Me" takes a devious turn into "The Way I Am," though Nasaan doesn't lose a step in the transition. Instead, he refocuses, sending some shots at the YBN movement in his scathing opening lines. "Screwing shit up, Like I won’t put that crew on a crutch," he spits, addressing those who name Cordae as the savior of hip-hop. "Fuck these new school n***s, I enroll I’m shooting shit up."
Check it out for yourself below, and sound off -- what do you think of Nasaan's latest?
